Weather Halts Skiing

KITZBUHEL, Austria () -- Training for this weekend's alpine skiing World Cup men's downhills was cancelled Thursday because of mild temperatures.

The cancellation follows a crash-filled day of training Wednesday as several skiers sustained serious injuries on the infamous Streif course including Norway's Lasse Kjus the overall World Cup leader, who has a serious concussion.

Race officials will attempt to get in another training run Friday morning before the first of the weekend's back-to-back downhills Friday.

Switzerland's Franco Cavegn is out for the season after tearing ligaments in his right knee while Austria's Andreas Schifferer and teammate Josef Strobl were also examined for concussions.
