UNITA to Disarm

BAILUNDO, Angola () -- UNITA leader Jonas Savimbi has said that his fighters were ready to be disarmed and UNITA was preparing to expand its political structures from a guerrilla force which has fought a bush war for two decades.

Savimbi said Wednesday that he had the full support of his commanders who would begin sending fighters to UN assembly camps to be disarmed. He has promised to disarm the bulk of his troops by Feb. 8.

Savimbi also said he would hold one-to-one talks with Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos soon.
