Swiss Carves Out Win

ADELBODEN, Switzerland () -- Switzerland's Michael Von Gruenigen won the men's giant slalom by a huge margin Tuesday, carving a breathtaking course in torturously icy conditions.

Von Gruenigen timed 2 minutes 29.96 seconds in winning his fourth giant slalom of the season, a spectacular 1.96 seconds ahead of compatriot Urs Kaelin, who clocked 2:31.79.

Von Gruenigen's win moved back him back up to second place in the overall world standings.

He still trails Lasse Kjus of Norway by some 300 points.
