Ski Leader Falls

KITZBUHEL, Austria () -- Lasse Kjus, the men's World Cup skiing leader, fell heavily in practice for a men's downhill Wednesday and was taken to hospital with head and face injuries.

Norway's Kjus, 24, lost control and went heavily into the safety nets about 500 meters from the finish on the 3.2-kilometer Hahnenkamm course. He was taken by helicopter to the local hospital.

Initial reports from the hospital and organizers said Kjus had a concussion, cheek wounds and body bruises.
