'Pro-Russian' NATO?

WARSAW () -- Warsaw is trying to convince Moscow that Poland's entry into NATO will help transform the Western alliance and purge it of its former anti-Russian character, Foreign Minister Dariusz Rosati said Monday.

Rosati said Poland had to continue trying to convince Russia that its key strategic goal of NATO membership was not aimed against Moscow or anyone else. "On the contrary, our entry into NATO will bring about a certain change in NATO's character -- this means the grouping will change its nature from the purely military into the more political, oriented towards cooperation," Rosati told private Radio Zet.
