Mogilny's Goal, Assists Lead Vancouver Past Boston, 6-0


BOSTON -- Khabarovsk native Alexander Mogilny scored his 35th goal and added two assists and Corey Hirsch recorded his first National Hockey League shutout as the Vancouver Canucks beat the Bruins 6-0.

Hirsch stopped 37 shots for Vancouver's first shutout of the year and the second against Boston in a week. The 23-year-old goalie improved to 5-0-1 in his last six games.

Esa Tikkanen also had a goal and two assists for Vancouver, giving him 10 points in five games.

Martin Gelinas, Jryki Lumme, Russ Courtnall and Jim Sandlak also scored for Vancouver.

Flyers 6, Stars 1. In Philadelphia, Eric Lindros had three assists, notching his 300th NHL point, and John LeClair and Rod Brind'Amour each scored twice as the Philadelphia beat Dallas.

The Flyers snapped a four-game home winless streak, their longest since the 1993-94 season. Dallas, winless in its last six games, is 0-9-1 on the road since a 7-6 win in Colorado Dec. 3.

Mikael Renberg and Kjell Samuelsson scored the other goals for Philadelphia, which went 3-for-5 on the power play, and Ron Hextall made 35 saves.

"It was all of us understanding what we had to do ... just going out and playing," said Lindros.

Former Flyer Brent Fedyk scored for the Stars.

Islanders 3, Lightning 2. In Uniondale, New York, the Islanders extended their unbeaten streak to six games by defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2.

Tommy Soderstrom, starting for the 18th time in New York's last 19 games, stopped 26 shots for the Islanders.

Niklas Andersson, who extended his point-scoring streak to eight games, Todd Bertuzzi and Marty McInnis scored for the Islanders, who are unbeaten in their last eight games at Nassau Coliseum (4-0-4).
