Ministry: Oil Output Slipped in 1995

Russian crude oil output slipped 11.7 million tons last year from 1994 to 282.8 million tons (roughly equivalent to 5.66 million barrels per day), Interfax quoted Fuel and Energy Ministry figures as saying Thursday.

It said the 1995 figure did not include output by joint ventures, which is currently a tiny amount.

But it did say the total output amount was 1.7 percent above previously forecast levels.

Last year's biggest producers included LUKoil with 55.5 million tons, Yukos with 36.1 million tons, Surgutneftegaz with 33.3 million tons and Tatneft with 25 million tons, it said, adding that Sidanko, the Siberian Oil Co (Sibneft) and the Tyumen oil company each produced more than 20 million tons.

Companies which dropped at least 10 percent from previously forecast levels included Kondpetroleum, Saratovneftegaz, Stavropolneftegaz, KomiTEK and Chechnya-based Yunko, it said.

Three producers -- Varyeganneftegaz, Samaraneftegaz and Nizhnevolskneft -- exceeded previously forecast levels for 1995 by at least 10 percent.
