Gold Cup Upset

ANAHEIM, California () -- Canada upset Central America champion Honduras 3-1 in the opening game of the Gold Cup soccer tournament.

El Salvador defeated Caribbean champion Trinidad and Tobago 3-2 in the second game at Anaheim Stadium Wednesday.

The Gold Cup, the North, Central America and Caribbean Soccer Confederation nations tournament, is a nine-nation tournament featuring countries from North and Central America and the Caribbean. The teams are divided in three groups, with the each group's winner and the best second-place team advancing to the semifinals. Mexico, Brazil and the United States are the top seeds.
