Doctors Accuse Army of Theft

NAIROBI -- A French aid agency expelled last week from Rwanda accused Rwanda's army Wednesday of stealing vehicles, equipment and medicine worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The French section of M?dicins Sans Fronti?res (Doctors Without Borders) said MSF's international compound in Kigali was being occupied by soldiers in a violation of the organization's neutrality.

MSF-France's Rwanda country manager, Frances Stevenson, told a news conference in Nairobi the military confiscated 16 MSF vehicles, medicine and equipment worth more than $500,000 Dec. 24.

MSF is one of 38 foreign aid agencies expelled last month by Rwanda on the grounds they had failed to register.
