Chang Wins Tuneup

n MELBOURNE () -- Michael Chang, who was invited to play as a late replacement, won the Colonial Classic tennis tournament for the second straight year.

The stocky American boosted his confidence for this week's Australian Open by defeating Yevgeny Kafelnikov of Russia 7-5, 6-1 in the final of the eight-man exhibition event at Kooyong. Chang, who joined the field when Michael Stich of Germany withdrew, reeled off nine straight games to end Kafelnikov's hopes of victory, moving from 3-5 to 7-5, 5-0 in a baseline slugfest played in searing heat.
