Batsman Retires

HAMILTON, New Zealand () -- Martin Crowe, one of New Zealand's greatest batsmen, Tuesday announced his retirement from international cricket.

Crowe, 33, has been troubled by a chronic knee injury for the past three years and has not been a regular member of the Kiwi squad.

Crowe played 77 tests, scoring a New Zealand record 5,444 runs at an average of 45.36, and has recorded 17 centuries.
