Armenian Bomb Kills 4

YEREVAN, Armenia () -- Four people, including two children aged 9 and 14, were killed when an anti-personnel mine exploded on a pedestrian bridge in Armenia, officials said Tuesday.

The blast occurred Monday afternoon on a bridge in central Kapan, a small quiet town in southern Armenia.

The motive for the explosion was unclear. A government commission has been set up to investigate, said Stepan Badalyan, head of the Emergency Situations Directorate in this former Soviet republic.

The mine appeared to have been placed under sheets of tin covering the bridge, Badalyan said.
