Russians Swim To 13th Gold

VIENNA -- Andrei Korneev secured Russia's 12th title of the 11-day championships, leading from start to finish in the men's 200-meter breaststroke, and then the 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay team made it a baker's dozen.

Korneev, bronze medalist in Tuesday's 100 breaststroke, swam inside world record pace for the first half of the race, pursued by Hungary's Karoly Guttler. Korneev won with a 2;12.62 to Guttler's 2:12.95

Alexander Popov, who retained his 100 freestyle title Thursday, claimed his second gold medal when he anchored Russia to victory in the relay, the day's final event.

The defending champion Russians won in 3:18.84, with Bjoern Zikarsky chasing Popov hard and securing the silver for Germany in 3:19.76. Sweden was third with a 3:21.07.
