Spain Gets Yellow Shirts

PAMPLONA, Spain () -- Thousands of fans gave five-time Tour de France champion Miguel Indurain a rapturous welcome in his home town in northern Spain.

He arrived in Pamplona, the regional capital of Navarre, to cheers and fireworks Monday night, dedicating a yellow jersey to the city.

He then dedicated a second jersey to the Virgin of the Rosary, the patron saint of his birthplace, Villava, a few kilometers outside Pamplona, and a third jersey to the townspeople.

State television said an average of 4.5 million Spaniards were watching the Tour of France at any one time during its three-week run.
