Top Soviet Coach Dies

MOSCOW () -- Former Soviet hockey coach Anatoly Tarasov, who led his team to nine successive world championships and three consecutive Olympic titles, has died after a long illness, Itar-Tass said on Friday. He was 76.

Under Tarasov, the Soviets won the world crown every year from 1963 to 1971. He was also in charge when they won the 1964, 1968 and 1972 Olympics and lifted 11 European championships.
