Chechnya Papers On View

Court documents prepared for the "Chechnya Inquiry," when Russia's Constitutional Court will consider the legality of the decision to send troops into Chechnya last December, will be on view to parliament members Friday, Interfax reported, quoting court spokeswoman Anna Malysheva.

The case is to come before the court July 10, at the request of the State Duma and the Federation Council who have questioned the constitutionality of the presidential decrees and government resolutions that launched the military operation.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Shakhrai and the president's aide on national security Yury Baturin will represent President Boris Yeltsin at the inquiry, Kremlin Chief of Staff Sergei Filatov told journalists Thursday, Interfax reported. The third representative has yet to be chosen.
