2 Peacekeepers Slain

MOSCOW () -- Two Russian officers serving with peacekeeping forces in Tajikistan were shot dead in the capital Dushanbe, Interfax said Friday.

The two officers were wounded Thursday evening and taken to hospital where they died without regaining consciousness, Interfax said, quoting the peacekeeping forces' press center.

Their killers, believed to be Tajiks, escaped. In all, 28 members of the Russian-led peacekeeping forces have been killed in Tajikstan this year.
