Korea Talks Flag

KUALA LUMPUR () -- A top North Korean official said his renewed parleys with the United States made no progress Thursday in resolving a dispute blocking a landmark nuclear agreement.

Vice Foreign Minister Kim Gye Gwan, head of North Korea's delegation, emerged from two hours of talks at the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and said only: "No progress."

"We continued to have in-depth discussions. We expect to have further meetings tomorrow," a U.S. Embassy statement said.

The United States hopes to persuade North Korea to accept modern light-water reactors from its capitalist rival South Korea as part of an accord signed by Washington and Pyongyang in Geneva last October.
