Temporarily Legless

LONDON ) -- A one-legged Briton has been refused a disabled driver's permit on the grounds that his disability is deemed temporary.

Roger Palmer, 39, who lost his right leg below the knee in a tree-felling accident, was told by Hampshire County Council that he did not have "permanent disability which causes inability to walk or very considerable difficulty in walking to the degree that we can provide a [special car-parking] badge."

"I can't understand how they can say my disability is not permanent," said Palmer.

"What am I supposed to do -- grow a leg?"
