Ley's Suspension Cut

NEW YORK () -- Vancouver Canucks coach Rick Ley had his suspension reduced from five games to three by the National Hockey League, and forward Gino Odjick will miss six games instead of 10.

The suspensions resulted from an exhibition game against Los Angeles, during which Odjick left the bench to join a fight. League rules mandate a 10-game suspension for a player leaving the bench to fight and a five-game suspension for his coach.

Brian Burke, the league's director of hockey operations, said Thursday the suspensions were reduced because the season has been shortened to 48 games.
