Almaty to Limit Deficit

ALMATY, Kazakhstan () -- Kazakhstan plans a deficit-cutting budget for 1995 that aims to slash inflation and lay the ground for economic recovery, a top minister said Friday.

Viktor Sobolev, deputy prime minister in charge of economic reform, said the government wants to limit the budget deficit to 3.3 percent of gross domestic product. "It is very tight, but we have to stabilize the macroeconomic situation and cut inflation," he said
