Pakistan Tops Sri Lanka

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka () -- Pakistan has coasted to a comfortable five wicket victory to take the five match one-day series 3-1 in Colombo.

Skipper Salim Malik overshadowed Arjuna Ranatunga's face saving innings for Sri Lanka, with an unbeaten 50, his third successive half century in as many games in the series. Pakistan reached the victory target Monday with 50 balls to spare after Sri Lanka had struggled to 174 for nine in their allocated 50 overs after having been sent in.

The original three one-day series, which Pakistan won 2-1, was extended to five games after the cancellation of the second test due to the uncertain political situation in the country after last week's general elections.
