NBA Accused

NEW YORK () -- The National Basketball Assocation's Players Association said the league violated antitrust laws in voiding the contracts of Horace Grant and A.C. Green.

However, since there currently is an impasse in collective bargaining negotiations between the NBA and the players, the union said Wednesday it has no immediate recourse in this dispute. One possible scenario would be for Grant and/or Green to sue the league as individuals seeking to have the contracts ruled valid.

The NBA on Tuesday struck down the contracts Green and Grant, both free agents, signed this summer with Phoenix and Orlando respectively. The league said the deals were designed to circumvent the salary cap. Both players technically are free agents again.
