Brazil Gets New Coach

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Veteran Mario Zagalo said Wednesday he was named as the new coach of the Brazilian soccer team, returning for his third stint in one of soccer's toughest jobs.

Zagalo, who has already held the job in 1967 and from 1970 to 1974, was named as successor to Carlos Alberto Parreira who left the job immediately after guiding Brazil to its triumph in the 1994 World Cup finals in July. Zagalo has spent the last three years as assistant to Parreira.
