Airline Rescue Mission

PARIS () -- Stephen Wolf, the former chairman of United Airlines, has been hired to help save debt-ridden Air France. Wolf will work as adviser to the Air France chairman, Christian Blanc, the company announced Tuesday. The appointment was made as the state-owned carrier embarks on a radical reorganization aimed at restoring it to financial health. Air France went into 1994 with a $6.2 billion debt.
