Korea Prepares Funeral

SEOUL -- North Korea prepared the funeral this weekend of its "Great Leader" Kim Il-sung while apparently getting ready to confirm his son as his successor.

Seoul officials believe North Korea will confirm Kim Jong-il, Kim Il-sung's son, as its undisputed leader, and say there are signs reformists might be climbing the hierarchy of the reclusive Communist state.

Nevertheless, Pyongyang's official mouthpiece resumed attacks on the South this week after a break following Kim's death. The Korean Central News Agency published an article criticizing the South's "civilian fascist authorities" for suppressing student protests.
