Policeman Kidnapped

MOSCOW -- Two workers from the Cuban Embassy and a visiting Cuban friend kidnapped a Russian policeman, held him captive in their apartment for several hours and beat him, police said Friday. The incident began Thursday night when a police patrol asked the three Cubans, all apparently drunk, to move their car, which had stopped and was blocking traffic in the middle of a downtown street. Instead, the three men grabbed the officer, forced him into their car and sped away, eluding a police pursuit, according to police spokesman Igor Tsyrulnikov. The officer was taken to a compound where foreigners live and work, and held captive in the Cubans' apartment, where he was beaten and robbed of his flak jacket.
