Killer Indian Heatwave

NEW DELHI -- Northern India is sizzling in some of the highest temperatures the region has felt for decades. At least 161 people have died of heatstroke as the mercury climbs up to 50 degrees Celsius in some areas. The capital, New Delhi, saw its hottest day in half a century early this week at 46 C . The level of the Yamuna River, which provides water to much of the region, has fallen. The water shortage means sewage is not washed away. Gastroenteritis and other water-borne diseases have killed dozens of people.
