TNT: Customs Present No Problem

Editor: In your article of May 6 headlined: "Mountains of Mail Pile Up at the Border," you highlight the difficulties some of the express distribution companies are experiencing with Russian customs. It incorrectly included TNT Express Worldwide as one of those companies. While we recognize that problems exist, we have not shared those difficulties that were outlined in the article. TNT Express Worldwide is operating in Russia without any restrictions. We have always strictly followed customs clearance procedures. In the past this has affected our service levels to some extent; however, it has enabled us establish good relations with Russian customs and we are experiencing outstanding growth. The article reported that some companies are refusing packages to Russia valued at more than $300 and that they are turning down mail to protect their reputations in case they are not able to achieve promised service levels. TNT Express Worldwide is accepting all packages regardless of value and we can deliver on our promises. Predrag Lakich General Manager TNT Express Worldwide Moscow
