Luck of the Irish

DUBLIN -- A brilliant 85th minute John Sheridan strike from 25 meters gave Ireland a 1-0 win over Bolivia in a World Cup warmup match. Sheridan's winner was set up by substitute Tony Cascarino who headed down into the path of Terry Phelan. He calmly laid the ball square for Sheridan who crashed home a blistering drive to the delight of the 32,500 crowd. The Bolivians strung together up to 20 passes at a time without ever getting near Irish goalkeeper Pat Bonner, making his record-equaling 72nd appearance for Ireland on his 34th birthday.
