Learning All the Vices

CHICAGO -- An inner-city elementary school teacher was suspended after he gave his class math problems involving drug dealing, prostitution and car theft. Among the test questions was one involving a pimp named Rufus who needed to know how many $65 "tricks" his three "girls" would have to perform to support his $800-per-day crack habit, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. The teacher, Charles Routen, was relieved of his duties at May Elementary School while an investigation was under way, the newspaper said.
