Kidnappers Arrested

MOSCOW ( -- Russian police arrested three kidnappers as they tried to collect a $115,000 ransom for a businessman they had held captive for over a month, a spokesman said Wednesday. The hostage, a citizen of the former Soviet republic of Uzbekistan, was abducted in Moscow on March 12 by a gang from Russia's breakaway Chechnya region, according to the police spokesman, Vladimir Vershkov. Vershkov said the kidnappers held the man in a warehouse in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, until April 4. Authorities arrested three of the criminals on April 30 when they tried to pick up the ransom at Vnukovo Airport.
