Another Racing Crash

SILVERSTONE, England -- Portuguese driver Pedro Lamy became the latest Formula One injury victim when he dislocated both knees and broke both thighs and an arm in practice at Silverstone. Lam's car broke into several pieces but Lamy remained in the cockpit fully conscious until he was removed by paramedics and airlifted to hospital. Paramedics said his condition appeared in no way life-threatening. His accident comes just over three weeks after the fatal crashes of Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger at Imola. Austria's Karl Wendlinger suffered critical head injuries in a crash during practice at Monaco 12 days ago.
