Alliance Eases Stance

TALLOIRES, France -- Bosnia's Moslem-Croat alliance told international mediators Wednesday they were ready to negotiate on how much territory they would get under an accord with the Serbs, the top Croat official said. The news, relayed by a Croatian journalist through a tight security curtain around the latest peace talks, suggested an easing of the alliance's earlier refusal to consider accepting less than 58 percent of the country in any deal. "The Croats and the Moslems expressed the opinion that for the sake of peace they are ready to negotiate a quantity closer to 51 percent than 58 percent," the journalist quoted new Croat leader Kresimir Zubak as saying.
