A Hat for Khasbulatov

n MOSCOW -- Boris Yeltsin, watch out. Ruslan Khasbulatov, the ousted speaker of the Russian parliament and archrival of the president, may have a political future after all in his native Chechnya. Residents of the village of Alkhan-Kala, 10 kilometers from the capital Grozny, during a ceremony to name a street after the ex-parliament speaker's father, presented Khasbulatov with two of the most prized symbols of Chechen authority: a gun and a sheepskin hat. Interfax speculated that Khasbulatov, who returned to Chechnya after spending five months in jail for his part in the October uprising in Moscow, could head the opposition to Chechen leader Dzhokar Dudayev.
