$10 Billion Cash Held

MOSCOW -- Russians hold $10 billion in foreign cash, or about $67 for every man, woman and child, Itar-Tass said Tuesday. The news agency said its figures were based on unofficial estimates. The latest edition of the Central Bank bulletin gave figures showing a net $5.7 billion of cash flowed into Russia in 1993 alone. In Soviet days citizens were banned from holding foreign currencies and currency trade was strictly regulated with the ruble kept at artificial rates.
