Metro Heroism

Editor: I should imagine anyone who has traveled on the Moscow metro at rush hour must think, "Good grief, do these Russians have any respect for anyone?" I have at many times thought just this but today made me think there is still some human respect in this country. The platform was full and four minutes were showing on the clock which, along with a distant rumble, meant the train was on its way soon. Suddenly a woman fell onto the tracks landing nastily on her back. I thought "Oh, no!" but within seconds three Russians were risking their lives on the tracks trying to pull her out. After 30 (seemed like a lifetime) seconds, they succeeded in pulling her out with the train zooming in shortly afterwards. Soon everyone was there making sure she was OK and offering any help she needed. James Reid Manager, Zwemmer Moscow
