Tomba's Slalom Win

Alberto Tomba gave his Olympic campaign a flying send-off with a tremendous victory in a World Cup slalom.

The Italian spread-eagled his rivals, winning by more than a second Sunday as he swept to his second victory in eight days, his fourth of the season and the 33rd win of his World Cup career.

Tomba clocked an aggregate one minute 32.47 seconds, with Sweden's Tomas Fogdoe second, 1.11 seconds back, and Jure Kosir third, 1.74 seconds off the Italian's pace.
