Theft in Hermitage

Three ancient Roman coins have been stolen from a glass case at the Hermitage Museum, and curators said there was not enough money for proper security.

Vladimir Matveyev, the museum's chief curator, said the coins were discovered missing Friday morning. He said they dated from early in the millenium and were valued at about 850,000 rubles ($540) together.

More valuable coins displayed in the same case were not touched.
