Malaysia Hits Back

Malaysia on Friday announced a return to its "Buy British Last" policy of a decade ago in retaliation for British newspaper allegations of corruption in business dealings between the two countries.

Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the government would no longer award contracts to British companies, a move which could cost them hundreds of millions of dollars.

Britain said on Friday it hoped to restore friendly relations with Malaysia but refused to take up complaints about British press reporting.
