Israel Bombs Lebanon

Israeli warplanes bombed south Lebanon on Monday after pro-Iranian guerrillas killed three Israeli soldiers and wounded four in their bloodiest attack in six months, security sources said.

Guerrillas ambushed an Israeli patrol in the Sojoud area on the edge of Israel's 15 kilometer-wide occupation zone, killing three soldiers and wounding four, the sources said. It was not known if the guerrillas suffered casualties.

Four Israeli planes later fired four rockets at targets in the villages of Jarjou and Ain Qana in the Iqlim al-Toufah area, a mountainous ridge held by Hizbollah, the sources said.

They said smoke billowed over the area as Lebanese army troops and Hizbollah guerrillas opened anti-aircraft machine-gun fire at the planes.
