Incomes, Sales Go Up

Russian incomes rose last year and there was a boom in sales of all kinds, according to figures published Thursday by Izvestia.

In an accompanying article, liberal economist Andrei Illarionov said that after taking inflation into account, sales revenues were up on average by 9 percent compared with 1992.

Illarionov, who recently resigned as head of the liberal Center for Economic Reform, said sales volume had gone up 2 percent, with sales of some foodstuffs registering hikes of between 5 and 12 percent.
