Gas to Georgians Cut

Georgia is facing severe shortages of gas because of reduced deliveries from Turkmenistan and supplies crossing its territory to Armenia have been cut off, officials in the Transcaucasus region said Friday.

The Georgian gas company Gruzgazprom announced on local radio that gas supplies to households would be cut periodically to ensure that country's power stations got enough supplies.

Turkmenistan has reduced supplies because of payment problems.
