Atlanta's Hebert Leads NFC To 17-3 Triumph Over AFC

HONOLULU -- Bobby Hebert, a late replacement for the injured Troy Aikman in the Pro Bowl, engineered a pair of second-half scoring drives to lift the National Football Conference to a 17-3 victory over the American Football Conference.

The Atlanta Falcons quarterback completed four of six throws for 68 yards, including a 15-yard touchdown pass to the Minnesota Vikings' Cris Carter 1:19 into the final quarter Sunday.

That score followed a fumble recovery by Chicago's Richard Dent, who fell on the ball at the AFC 19 after Minnesota's John Randle stripped the ball from the Houston Oilers' Warren Moon.

Rookie Jerome Bettis of the Los Angeles Rams scored on a 4-yard run late in the third quarter, capping a 48-yard drive that included a 32-yard pass from Hebert to Falcons teammate Andre Rison.

The NFC defense came up with four interceptions and two fumble recoveries as the AFC offense struggled. Chicago's Donnell Woolford intercepted a pass by Boomer Esiason of the New York Jets in the NFC end zone with 4:30 remaining to wrap up the victory for the NFC.
