Ambulances to Strike

Moscow ambulance drivers announced plans for a partial strike from March 1 to protest the sacking of a top paramedic and reorganization of the city's emergency medical service, Itar-Tass reported.

Representatives of ambulance drivers decided that from March 1 they would stop collecting all corpses except children's from Moscow streets and would stop filling out papers, but would continue to answer emergency calls.

All patients picked up would be taken only to regular hospitals and not to higher-quality facilities used mainly by government officials, the report said. The workers made no salary demands.
