Quayle Hospitalized

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana () -- Former U.S. Vice President Dan Quayle has been hospitalized for a blood clot in one of his lungs, a hospital spokeswoman said Tuesday.

She said Quayle, vice president under George Bush and considered a contender in the 1996 presidential campaign, is expected to be hospitalized for about a week. Doctors anticipate a full recovery, but it is too early to tell how Quayle's illness would affect a presidential run, she said.

He "was complaining of progressive shortness of breath" on Monday, said the spokeswoman. "During the evening, a team of physicians determined he had a clot that traveled to his lung."
