Gunman to Stand Trial

WASHINGTON () -- The man charged with spraying the White House with gunfire has been held over for trial after being judged mentally competent to assist in his legal defense.

Francisco Martin Duran, 26, was ordered to be held without bond following Wednesday's preliminary hearing in which his attorneys failed to have one of four charges against him -- that of assaulting a Secret Service agent -- dismissed. Duran underwent a prosecution-requested psychiatric examination Tuesday that determined he comprehended the charges against him.
