Striking for Time

TBILISI, Georgia () -- A Georgian lawmaker who takes time seriously has started a hunger strike to demand that this former Soviet republic move its clocks two hours ahead.

"We should not copy everything from Moscow, including time," Zurab Murvanidze said Wednesday, hours after he began his campaign. "We should proceed from our own interests."

Murvanidze said that with clocks two hours forward, there would still be daylight when people returned home from work, helping Georgia cope with a severe energy shortage.
