Tom Landry Picks Dallas

Former Dallas Cowboy head coach Tom Landry is in Moscow for the week as Honorary Chairman of Operation Carelift '94, a program delivering humanitarian aid to children in Russia and Kazakhstan. He had these comments about the upcoming conference championship games:

"The Dallas Cowboy-San Francisco 49er game should be a great game. When you get into the playoffs at this level, the mental starts to take over. And you are not sure you are going to have a great game. I think that the pressure is on the 49ers in that game since Dallas beat them so bad last year to go on to the Super Bowl.

"The thing to watch in that ball game is how the 49ers are playing. They played a great game against the Giants last week and if they do that, it should be a great football game.

"(The injuries to Dallas) won't affect the defense so much. If Emmitt Smith is able to live up to 90 percent of his performance, then they'll be OK. Dallas needs a good offense, because their defense is not the best in the league. So it is their offense that will really take them to the Super Bowl.
