Presidential Timetable

President Bill Clinton starts his two-day Moscow summit with President Boris Yeltsin on Thursday, and his schedule allows for both serious meetings and a bit of relaxation. Both Russian and American officials have repeated that Clinton may slightly change the schedule according to his wishes, making the following a preliminary agenda:





Thursday


8:45 Leaves suite at Radisson Slavjanskaya Hotel.


9:00 Welcome ceremony in the Kremlin Palace.


9:20 One-on-one meeting between Yeltsin and Clinton.


10:30 Yeltsin gives Clinton a tour of the Kremlin.


11:15 Other Russian and American officials join the Yeltsin-Clinton talks.


13:30 Meeting with Patriarch Alexy II of the Russian Orthodox Church. This meeting may be canceled however, because of the patriarch's poor health, Russian officials said.


17:00 Reception at Spaso House, residence of the U.S. Ambassador Thomas Pickering.


19:30 Dinner at Yeltsin's suburban dacha at Ogarevo.





Friday


8:00 Clinton lays wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.


9:00 Clinton and Yeltsin, accompanied by a wide group of Russian and American advisers, hold talks in the Kremlin, perhaps to be joined by the Ukrainian President Leonid Kravchuk.


9:35 The United States, Russia and Ukraine sign agreements on dismantling Ukraine's nuclear weapons.


10:20 Clinton and Yeltsin sign bilateral agreements.


10:45 Yeltsin and Clinton give a joint press conference in the Kremlin.


12:15 The two presidents visit a factory or industrial enterprise, which has not been named yet.


15:30 Clinton gives a live television address on the Ostankino channel.19:00 Yeltsin hosts an official state dinner in the Kremlin for Clinton and his wife Hillary.





Saturday


7:30 Clinton meets with employees of the U.S. Embassy in the embassy gym.


10:15 Clinton leaves Russia for Minsk, Belarus.
